Bicycle Security

Security

The Lincoln Police have investigated many reports of stolen bicycles mainly because people tend to leave their bicycle unattended and unlocked. You should always keep a good quality lock and chain set with your bicycle and attach it to a secure object when you leave it unattended.

Also you should make sure that you have the Make, Model, Description, and Serial Number for the bicycle in case your bicycle would happen to be stolen. Many bicycles are recovered by the Lincoln Police but we have no idea who they belong to because people don't keep this vital information about their bicycles. You can register your bicycle with the Lincoln Police Department so that we have this information on file. If your bicycle is lost or stolen and the Lincoln Police recover your bicycle we can immediately return it if we have this information on file. We will soon have a bicycle registration form you may fill out on-line that sends this information to the Lincoln Police. Please check back in the future for this availability. Currently you may contact Community Policing Officer Tim Butterfield to register your bicycle.
